Parking and Weight Restrictions

Parking

Parking Fines
From July 2007 the powers to enforce yellow line and parking space offences will be transferred from the Police to the County Council as the local traffic authority. The aim of the enforcement service is to improve driver compliance with waiting restrictions, so helping local residents and businesses by reducing traffic delays and improving road safety.

The District and Borough Councils will provide parking attendants to enforce both on-street and off-street parking. The County Council is providing a single, centralised contact centre for the administration of this service. The whole will be overseen by an officer joint parking board.

On-Street Parking
From 2nd July 2007, parking attendants will issue warning leaflets, rather than penalty charge notices, to illegally parked vehicles. Full enforcement will follow, starting on 16th July 2007.

Off-Street Car Parks
From 2nd July 2007, full enforcement will continue with new style notices being issued.

Further Information
