How to Start a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme
GETTING YOUR SCHEME STARTED IS VERY EASY!
STEP 1
Contact the Town Council's Neighbourhood Watch Development Officer, Mr Trevor Matthews, on 0116 2899270 for an informal chat or call into the Civic Centre. Mr Matthews is normally available on Monday each week.
STEP 2
If you are still interested we will canvass your neighbours to see if they too want to join "Neighbourhood Watch". An "Interest Meeting" will then be arranged for them to attend either at a neighbour's house or at the Civic Centre.
STEP 3
When you and your neighbours decide to start a scheme you will need to appoint a neighbour to act as your "Street Co-ordinator" together with 1 or 2 Contact Persons (assistant helpers) with whom the Neighbourhood Watch Development Officer and the Police can contact on matters relating to your scheme.
STEP 4
Your scheme will then become registered with the Police. Signs can be erected and your Co-ordinator allowed to received important Police messages via the Police computerised "Ringmaster Information System". Regular information will also be sent to you from the Neighbourhood Watch Development Officer such as crime figures, community safety leaflets and details of relevant meetings that you can attend.
IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE!
