Name: Posted: Mon, 04 Aug 2008 19:57 Comments: good luck to councilor dave widdowson, in his position as deputy mayor Name: Dog owner Posted: Tue, 08 Jul 2008 11:18 Comments: I think that the council have made exactly the right decision concerning the dog orders in Braunstone Town. I also agree with the plastic bottles and litter comments made by other people. Perhaps we should consider banning kids and parents from these fields if they dont know how to tidy up after themselves? Name: Braunstone Town Resident Posted: Tue, 08 Jul 2008 11:13 Comments: I am very relieved to hear that common sense has prevailed in relation to the proposed dog restrictions in the parish. The real problem as I see it is broken glass, litter, and burnt and abandoned cars - perhaps this bigger issue can now be addressed to stop this blight on our lovely community? Name: A concerned resident Posted: Sun, 29 Jun 2008 09:51 Comments: I am an international croquette sports player. Dig up the footie pitches and and lay some first rate croquette (not croquette potato rolls) lawns for me to practice for the 2012 Londinium games. I know i can win gold foil medals with more practice. Failing that I could always act as an anti dog fouling patrol with my mallet and hoops. Name: Kerry Buttery South Australia Posted: Tue, 24 Jun 2008 11:00 Comments: Congratulations to Sharleen Thurman becoming Mayor of Braunstone Town. Name: olderwoman Posted: Wed, 11 Jun 2008 21:14 Comments: I wonder if someone could help, I am trying to trace the history if this town going back to 1941. i was born here and was informed i was born in a big house or hall where women was sent to have their child for safety. My mother was married at the time, and i believe the hall or house was called "Big burrow hall " i believe or something similar. Thank you in advance Name: Graham Kemp Posted: Thu, 05 Jun 2008 10:28 Comments: I'm fairly new to Braunstone having lived in London for the past 23 years. Since I've lived here I have been impressed with the courteous manner of the staff at the civic centre and the helpful attitude of all who work there. Also I would like to thank the councilors for the sterling work they do in trying to keep all of us happy. From what I have observed so far our councilors seem to be for the people and involved at grass roots. Many thanks Name: A disappointed Youth of Braunstone Town Posted: Tue, 03 Jun 2008 20:03 Comments: I think that the Youth council should buckle there ideas up and think about making a youth centre and what the town councillors have promised us they said that we will put a football pitch on mos dales meadows and the youth council will soon do a London trip well you could of told us the people that it is aimed at. I thought you cared about youths well if you do then the youth council are not doing much and we are very disappointed!!!!! Name: Simon Davis Posted: Mon, 02 Jun 2008 22:54 Comments: Granting planning permission for a Tesco Express will signal the end of any small independent shops in the vicinity.Who wants a country with no individuality where every community has the same shops that all look the same, sell the same stuff, how boring and next to an old pub which looks to have a history and character. Name: Mildred Posted: Mon, 02 Jun 2008 14:49 Comments: With regard to the application submitted to Blaby District Council for the erection of a Tesco Express on the car park at the Shakespeare Pub, this is just metres away from the conservation area of Old Braunstone Village and will have an impact on the look and feel of the surrounding area and result in increased vehicle traffic, noise and litter. Tesco argues that the local area needs the proposed store, which I find questionable as there are two independent grocery shops a few hundred yards away and two parades of small shops within walking distance. Why should we in the local area put up with the giant Tesco money making machine railroading through yet another unnecessary convenience store to increase their already vast profits at the expense of small local shops and the heritage of our 19th century Old Braunstone conservation area? Name: Site Administrator Posted: Fri, 23 May 2008 10:37 Comments: Proposed Dog Control Orders - Name: Colin Posted: Wed, 21 May 2008 23:10 Comments: Does anyone realise the how much employing so many new Council staff as dog watchers is going to cost us all? Name: Henry Posted: Mon, 19 May 2008 21:03 Comments: In response to the comment made by John the council may have a duty of care .The individual should have a sense of responsibility. We live in a society today where people always pass the buck and it is about time that we took responsibility for our own actions. Name: Sarah Rheman Posted: Sun, 18 May 2008 15:27 Comments: Why has it taken so long for the council to make these proposals. There is no way that dogs should be allowed on sports fields or childrens play areas.Who in their right mind wants to be cleaning smelly dog dirt off childrens shoes and clothes.Last year I went for a picnic with my grandchildren in a designated childrens play area.We had to throw our picnic blanket away asd it was covered in dog muck. This spoiled our afternoon. Name: Robert James Posted: Sun, 18 May 2008 15:14 Comments: Dog dirt stinks, end of story.May be if people had to pay a large license fee before buying a dog they would act as responsible owners. Name: Margaret Lewis Posted: Sun, 18 May 2008 15:02 Comments: The council tries very hard to provide open spaces that are pleasurable for people of all ages to use.I have no objection to dog owners using the parks to exercise their dogs.If owners do not clear up their dog mess or fail to keep their dogs on a lead then I think that they should be banned from using the parks.Nobody can enjoy open spaces littered with stinking dog dirt.It only takes a few people who have this can't be bothered attitude ,let someone else clean up after me. Name: Janet Stimson Posted: Sun, 18 May 2008 14:44 Comments: In my view owners who act responsibly should clear up their own dog's mess.Public places are not inviting when littered with dog dirt and why should the council have to employ people to do Name: John Posted: Sat, 17 May 2008 14:23 Comments: Under Health and Safety regulations the Town Council / owners of the sports areas and the hirers are jointly responsible for a “duty of care” to the users of these facilities. Surely this must mean that before any activities take place the area should be checked for hazards that may cause injury and removed by the Council / hirers. Name: Susan Posted: Sat, 17 May 2008 14:20 Comments: The majority of users of our public parks are the public. Far more of them use the parks than those who play football at weekends. Name: New Braunstone Resident Posted: Sat, 17 May 2008 14:06 Comments: I agree that dogs should be kept under control during games and kept out of play areas. However, for the majority of the time, to ban them from marked pitches when not on the lead when a game is not being played strikes me as absurd. I don't see similar measures for unruly children in parks who are equally capable of disturbing the peace and causing a nuisance. Are parents going to receive fixed penalty notices when they misbehave or disturb others? I doubt it. Displaying results 1-20 of 36
