Social Car SchemeThe Social Car Scheme for Blaby District provides transport for residents of the area using volunteer drivers and their cars. It is used by people who are unable to get themselves to where they want to go. Who uses it? Where do they go? There can be many different types of journeys – the most frequent include: Shopping trips; visiting friends or relatives; social events (eg bingo or bowls); visiting the library; daytime courses at schools or colleges medical appointments; visiting friends or relatives in hospital. The only appointments not done generally are hospital appointments. Journeys are usually local but the Social Car Scheme does sometimes get requests for trips to the further reaches of Leicester and Leicestershire.
